Hybrid microwave sintering of alumina and 3 mol% Y2O3-stabilized zirconia in a multimode cavity – Influence of the sintering cell

چکیده

In microwave (MW) sintering, samples directly heat by absorption of the electromagnetic field, leading to a fast volumetric heating. Thus, materials are heated thanks their own dielectric properties. multimode cavities, always with sintering cell in order get an insulation and heating homogeneity. However, date, very limited research has been carried out study effects used cell. this paper microstructure densification Al2O3 3Y-TZP were investigated compared between three different cells. The contains main elements: thermal insulators, SiC susceptor protective mullite tube. Higher final densities (98.3 ± 0.6% 98.6 T.D. for respectively), lower temperatures better homogeneity obtained using containing both tube susceptor. But, without was also possible, especially lowest lossy material,i.e., Al2O3. This can be explained possible effect microstructural observations showed difference some It linked properties two materials. influence is less critical 3Y-TZP, which couples MW than observed that curves switched higher during presence These results justified error temperature measurement IR-pyrometer.

Increasing of tetragonal zirconia formation in the reaction sintering of alumina-zircon

In this study it was tried to investigate on the effective parameters of the formation and increasing tetragonal zirconia phase in reaction sintering of alumina and zircon.  In this way, alumina and zircon powders were mixed by the ratio of 85 to 15 wt.% and sintered at different conditions. Sintering temperature (1500-1650˚C), furnace type (conventional and microwave) and the milling time of r...

Microwave Sintering of Abrasion Resistant Alumina Liner Tiles

The need to move large volumes of highly abrasive materials, such as coal, grain, sand, and various waste products, places great demands on the piping systems through which they are conveyed. Excessive wear is a common problem, especially evident in the sections of pipe, which change the direction of flow of the abrasive material. . Due to their excellent wear characteristics, ceramic materials...

Microwave Sintering of Mullite

Microwave sintering possesses unique attributes and has the potential to be development as a new technique for controlling microstructure and to improve the properties of advanced ceramics. Because microwave radiation penetrates most ceramics, uniform volumetric heating is possible. Thermal gradients, which are produced during conventional sintering because of conductive and radioactive heat tr...

The Comparison of MgO and TiO2 Additives Role on Sintering Behavior and Microstructures of Reaction-Sintered Alumina-Zirconia-Mullite Composite

Alumina-Mullite-Zirconia ceramic composites were prepared by reaction sintering of alumina, zircon mixture and the sintering aids of magnesia and titania at temperatures of 1400 and 1600 C for 2 hours. The development of different phases and microstructures of the composites were analysed to assess the relative influence of the additives on the formation of alumina-zirconia-mullite compos...
